Ensim Granted VPS Technology Patent
16 March 2003

Web hosting industry software provider Ensim Corporation (Ensim.com) announced on Thursday that the United States Patent and Trademark Office has granted the company a patent for its Virtual Private Server (VPS) technology.

The patent, says Ensim, covers the interception of system calls, a critical technique for building virtual private servers on top of an underlying operating system. Without the technology, modification of the system itself would be required to create the virtual environment. The patent covers code for virtual private servers developed for any operating system.

"We are dedicated to the development of cutting-edge technology that allows hosting providers to offer their customers secure and cost-effective Web hosting capabilities," says Dr. S. Keshav, founder and CTO of Ensim. "This newly granted patent is another example of Ensim's technology leadership in the web hosting software market."
